davyk31
My X3 has satnav and therefore has a pop up screen on the dash. On this screen one of the options was telephone and all was working fine until today when telephone no longer shows on the screen. I tried to pair a phone again by pressing the button in the armrest and then turning the car on and holding for a few seconds but it didn't start to search for a phone. Anyone any ideas? I thought of maybe resetting the bluetooth unit in the boot but there is no obvious way to do this and removing cables does not seem simple and I would be afraid that they might nor go in again. Just give your local dealer a ring and see if there's a quick fix they could recommend you try. If not then have them look at it, seen as it's still under warranty you'll have to pay nothing. davyk31
Called in with the dealer, they tried a battery reset which did not work. Had to book it in for a better examination which happened last week. The bluetooth unit is knackered so a new one needed which will go in this week. Rather annoying why you have to loose the car for a day while they investigate and then another day while they fit the parts after ordering. Surely a bit of a stockholding would make the process simpler for everyone.
tom_hargreaves
Surely a bit of a stockholding would make the process simpler for everyone. It would, but the chances of a component like the Bluetooth unit going wrong are very low. So they might have one in stock for 18 months before it's needed, which means the dealers' money is tied up in parts. Also if they were to keep every part of every car in stock, they'd need a warehouse which would probably need to be 4 times bigger than the one they have. Glad the fault has been diagnosed though, and getting fixed under warranty. You not getting a loan car?
davyk31
No not bothering with a loan car. They will collect it at my house and return. If we get a loaner its too much hassle removing the kids seats, fitting these to the loaner and then changing back over. Just means the wife is stuck in the house for a morning.....cheaper than letting her have her freedom to go to the shops though!!!
