GTI alarm interior motion sensor

Hi Guys,

I’ve just bought a Mk5 GTI and am still trying to find out how things work.

There is a motion sensor in the roof for the alarm and the switch is in the drivers side door pillar (between front and back doors) so im assuming it has the interior protection.

However when I lock the car with the window down, leave it for a while, stick my arm in and wave around like something not wise it doesn’t respond or activate. I then tried sitting in the car, opening and closing the drivers door, locking the car while sitting in it and again flapping around, the alarm does not trigger.

Does this sound like a duff alarm or is it possible for the sensor to be there but not connected up to the alarm system. If I open the doors manually with the key and don’t put the key into the ignition within the 15 s, the alarm sounds as it should.

Im sure my neighbours think im either possessed or like an excited school kid with all the arm flapping that’s been going on!!

Cheers for any pointers

the switch on the pillar is to turn off the internal alarm sensor or set it to off for car tilt depending on what end of the button you pressed.

under normal circumstances you don't touch the switch and the car when locked by just using the remote will have internal motion detection and anti-tilt alarm activated.

cheers petsy,

Thats the thing, without touching the switch and locking the car as normal, the interior motion sensors doesnt appear to be working, unless its ultra smart, like it recognises the window was open or someone is sitting in the seat when it was armed and deactivates the internal sensors.

But to be honest although they seem smart cars, i wouldn't imaging this woul;d be the case and possibly more like the sensors duff

cheers

paul

Does sound like a duff sensor if you have set the inside button, closed the doors & set the alarm by remote then opened the doors/ closed doors again set by remote, this last time with somebody sat in the car, & moving about to trigger the alarm sensor.
