davyk31
I owned both a Cooper and a Cooper S when the new Mini came out in 2001. While the S was much faster it wasn't as "easy" to drive as the Cooper. My wife complained of the clutch and steering being heavier etc. She is talking again of a Mini after we had one on loan while a car was being serviced and it would be the newer generation model, just wondered has anyone experience of the Cooper vs Cooper S now to see what the driving experience is like. Naturally I like the thought of the Turbo charged S but if its still a "heavier" drive then there isn't really much point. Obviously we can go try for ourselves but just though I would ask here first.
Shukran
Davy My missus has a new Cooper S Cabrio and it is far easier to drive than the old S Cab she had. Strangely the turbo is easier to pull away with than the supercharged one was, it almost feels that there is a viscous coupling rather than a clutch. As for the "heaviness" the S's setup is obviously "sportier" and the wheel/tyre combination will be a factor, but the new model is FAR easier to drive - go for the S if you do get a MINI! MUCH more fun.
