Hello Guys,

This is the 3rd and probably final update on the DODO Supernatural wax, first applied here 3 months ago: www.tyresmoke.net/forum/cleaning/108737-dodo-supernatural-not.html

Updated in the second month here:

www.tyresmoke.net/forum/cleaning/109818-quick-supernatural-update.html

Now for the 3rd month:

I think this is pretty much the end of product, its been washed mostly with Mothers California Gold and once or twice with DODO's own car wash. Neither of which contain wax or polymers which will play about with beading. Neither is a harsh wash that will effect or strip off the wax. Quickshine was used to the QD the car during drying with a MF drying towel.

Post wash, flooding the car takes sometime to sheet off the water (which wont happen all that well or quickly) and even then im not getting 50% of what i was getting 4 weeks ago.

About 2 weeks ago, the looks started to take a noticable down turn. Less glossy, less sharper reflections and alot less depth. Here is the beading just a day after washing the car, with no driving.

Probably for me, this is about the end of the wax. With the looks going too i will likely strip and rewax with something else. Slickness is non existant and even the side panels are not beading up very well.

DODO are releasing a whole new version of this wax (this week I think) which has 1% more Nuba. It looses the wooden box and the price is cut from £95 to just £65.

If you were considering buying i would say hold on to get the slightly higher nuba content. It might make it a tad more durable and also slightly better looking?!

For me, in the UK market this makes it a much better looking option the Zymol Concours. However durability for me is no different and looks are similar.

Any questions feel free to ask. Im half tempted to whip out the QD+ bring back the beadings and the looks a bit!

I like Supernatural and am keen to try out the new version. However I still really rate Raceglaze 55. It offers great glossy looks and excellent durability. Mine is still beading pretty much like it did 6 weeks ago!!!

Geoff - Have you tried it? You can get sample tubs for £5 that would do 2x coats on your car.

I bought a panel pot of Supernatural and have yet to apply it (sat in the fridge still). The weather has held me back !

Geoff, do you think that Clearkote nuba wax is more durable than SN? Does SN look better than the Clearkote wax?

As we will soon be into autumn and Supernatural seems to lack durability, I'm wondering if I should just get some Collinite 915.

Thoughts anyone?

Hi Guys!

Ahaydock; Where do you get the samples! I would certantly be happy to put the same product on the same car with the same prep see what the difference in looks or durability is. If i was going to out right buy a new wax, i think it would be Supernatural for £65, but im to ready to try other products at the moment.

Im very intreasted in P21s 100% as i was fan of the original back in the days when 3 weeks from a beauty wax was good.

Tarmac; Its fair to say Supernatural isnt over yet, its on its last legs. As you can see the beads no longer are tight and the sides are slipping. This is often caused by low surface tention, dirty cars often have less tight beading. I would not worry if the car was dirty, but since its not its probably over, looks have faded too. How it would deal against the winter spray and frosts i cant guess.

CK Wax is strange, it never seems to have "high surface" tention and much like some spray waxes it neither beads not sheets fantastically. I reckon they both last around the same, though look totally different.

On red, the CK wax should make your look a glowing red, really red and wet paint like. You might only notice when you swap out the Supernatural how you will loose some of that intense colour and get wetness and depth, but in a glossy way like you have a glossy coat on your car.

Collinites are nice waxes, with out a doubt they last long time. I cant say im the biggest fan for winters, simply b/c long term sealants like Zaino acutally repel dirty better and are an easier clean. Easier to clean in winter is something i like as it helps to reduce cold hands and marring! 915 being nuba based will be better at lasting though bird bombs all that sticky stuff that seems to come off with leaves in the autumn.

If you have time, look up these two products 1000p and Pink Wax both from Finish Kare. Last yr i went to the USA for 11 weeks, my sister did not was her car the whole time i was away. Pink wax still beading and it looks awesome on silver. 1000p is a sealant and can be topped as you choose but its in paste form and is ultra tough.

915 will walk over SN in durability though.

Hi Guys,

Tarmac, its not garaged it pretty much sits in that spot all the time. I have been using it a bit more this week since i sold another of my cars.

Dibbs, is the grey colour like my Lancer? Most products work out really well on that colour b/c its dark but lightens up in the sun so you get a full range of looks. I will put some Pink Wax on the silver car and throw up some pics, weather permitting!

For £30 i think you can get Duragloss sealants and there spray sealant Aqua Wax. This is used in stead of your QD when you dry the car and it boosts protections.

Personally, I i might buy Souveran Liquid Wax that has been polycharged by the makers. I heard that it can do a 5 month stint no problems! It seems to give a good warm look, i cant wait!

Geoff - have a look here for the RG55 sample. I easily got 2x coats on my A3 from a small pot and reckon I can squeeze another one out +++

Tarmac - I would just go SRP followed by 2x Coats of the Colly. However if you already have the EGP then it wont hurt to use it. SRP/EGP is a good wheel combo also +++

Geoff the colour is nearly the same as yours, very close actually.

Re the wax, some are saying Colly, all I need really is for this new wax to go on both of our cars. I have some Souveran in a pot but its a year old so is unlikely to be polycharged.

Would you go for the PS Polycharged then?

Supernatural in the sun!

When the sun shines in London it can be very nice, i wish it did it more! I went out and got some photos today with out any rain on the car. As the SN is passing it seems to be leaving a much more reflective finish then in the original posts (post 1).

As you can see much of the gloss has gone but i think it would still leave a smile on your face.

The car looks darker in some photos, as in the above photos this is just when the sky is clear (atleast for few mins) the car takes on a more blue tone. When the clouds move in it starts to go more grey.

The game certantly ist over yet. But certantly isnt the same as product it was say just 2 weeks ago or so

The Pinnacle spray looks quite good Geoff, are you going for the cleanser too?

I wonder what the lasting qualities are like through the winter?, they tested it in the summer somewhere in the states and it seems to have stood up well.............+++

Thanks TT, polishing does help to bring up the paintwork to the point where even products can make smaller differences to final look.

Dibbs, i have the spray Pinnacle wax too, but the one im looking to use this winter is just a liquid. The spray wax i might use a booster, looks great and smells good but has to go on to a dry car.

I am assuming on other peoples reviews that pinnacle souveran liquid wax should do 3 months easy probably 5. I polycharged (from a kit) Meguiars 21 sealant which is very similar to NXT and it was beading so tight even after 3 months but i had to polish out the car so i never got to see it conclude.

I have Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion (PPCL), very similar to the Wolfgang one and its really nice, I will probably use that to prep! I originally got the tub of wax, PPCL and and Crystal Mist QD in a pack all together.

HI Dibbs,

Polycharging is a product that you can buy which increases or intensifies the bonding ability of products to the car. There are 2 version, one for water based products, one for solvent based waxes.

Before, you had to mix this yourself, here is an idea of the kit: Polycharger® - CH2 Wax Booster with all the mixers.

Now companies have developed a way to get this in the product from the start with out it going hard after a few weeks and ruining the product.

The Pinnicle Liquid Souveran Wax was a product that lasted about 6 weeks, polycharging increases the bonds it has the with the paintwork and now it will lasts 3-4 months!

I think another forum member has polycharged his Wolfgang Sealant. I have polycharged a few products including Meguiars #21 and Klasses SG.

Now on the market is:

Pinnicle Liquid Souveran Wax (older bottles, non polycharged)

Pinnicle Liquid Souveran Wax pre-polycharged

Pinnicle Souveran Spray Wax

Pinnicle Souveran Paste Wax

SO the difference is about 2 months at a minimum!

As for the spray wax, i have that and it a great booster, it looks more like the Liquid wax then the Paste. I dont intend to use that as my winter wax, just the liquid and maybe the spray as a booster.

Hi Dibbs

I think adding the QD (a quick spray to the pad for the whole job) seems to make the foam pad pick up a thin consistant layer of product. Also when you have clayed product seem to "slip on" so easy. A few months later this isnt always the case adding the qd does help the pad move just like after you clayed.

More than likely Geoff. I have gone for the polycharged liquid wax & paintwork cleaner.

I have also gone for the Wolfgang tyre dressing, I am not liking the Megs stuff, it looks too tacky really.

I seem to remember one of your posts having Wolfgang tyre dressing being used, how do you find it compared to the Megs stuff?.

Finally I have also gone for the hand polisher Wolfgang do to save my hands when applying the stuff ! +++

Hello!

Yes i do like the Wolfgang Tyre Gel alot, it gives a good black finish the tyre with just the right amount of shine. It isnt matt, its about as low gloss as you can go. It seems pretty durable, i work in to a clean tyre well. I top up every week or so and a few coats start to build up colour on the tyre.

It doesnt attract dust and doesnt look like there is a thick layer of product on your tyre which i tend to find with the Megs.

The Wolfgang hand polishers are good. They are quite big though, i cut the end off one of mine so i had a chunk about 1/3 of the pad. I put some ScratchX on it and worked it up and down on the Lancers lower lip on the bumper. Great results as it was concentrated i could really hand polish.

The paintwork cleanser is best applied with the microfibre type applicators with the foam in the middle. Its quite a thick product. The microfibre will give better cleaning action and really work the product in to the paintwork, it fills quite well! If you find it "grabs" to much on the paintwork spritz the applicator with QD before you put more product on it and it should work in easier.

Sorry Geoff, I havent gone for the Wolfgang hand polisher, my mistake on previous post. The one I have gone for is the Pinnacle Polishing Pal, seems quite a good product. I have also plummed for some of the Pinnacle Microfibre Rejuvinator to get those MF's properly cleaned, washing powder really aint the best........+++
