TheEdge
Hi all I am currently using Gold class shampoo ( running low ) with the meguairs foam gun @ £14.99 Im looking at a better gun like spending approx £50 on one ive seen various demos with about 1 inche of car foam in the container topped up with water etc my question is using gold class or even NXT wash can i get the same effect ? of completely snowing over the car or is this only unique to special foam washes? Is NXT wash better than Gold Class ? Have also got some Autoglym bodywork conditioner this stuff comes up lightly foamed not as intense as the Gold Class I wont be re buying any of this stuff when it runs out. thanks all ( WHEN ARE WE GONNA GET SOME GOOD WEATHER !! )

steelwind101
Hello! Lots of the guys who have the most intense foam, which is acutally a thick deep "snow" style foam are using specific foam products and a foam lance attached to a power washer. This would be the gear you want - Elite Snow Foam 5 Litre Elite Car Care If you are talking about the foam gun, also known as the "Glimour" has a large bottle that you attach and put on to a standard hose then you will get a decent foam. However, this is likely to be more like good froth. Its often still quite watery. Still does the job and is worth having. But the acutal foam lance and snow foam sprays out the real foam. Using shampoos to make foam is always bit hit and miss in my opinion. Shampoos clean, while true snow foam acutally softens dirt. Using a shampoo bath and a shampoo foam is like giving your car a double washing. It may well reduce the amount of time an LSP remains strong. Although most shampoos we recommond do not strip wax, its fair to say they will have an effect on a detiorating LSP. Gold Class is not a great foamer, its thick product best mix it with hot water to get the most from it. In a smiliar way, NXT makes a good foam but requires a good shake first to get it all moving around. Auto Glym bodywash is a low foam shampoo and there for wont do much for you. It is easy to rinse away though! Personally im a fan of DP Xtreme Foam, as its a shampoo which is a weak mix in the foam gun. However it has an emphasis on foaming which makes it great and ideal for winter washes where extra bit of clean is required! Watch out on the online vids, see how long the products "dwells" on the paintwork for, and how thick is it when its on the car? If you want to buy on Halfords, try Zymol AutoWash, its green. It foams well and cleans well and is really lubie. Only problem is it doesnt rinse all that freely. Do you have the foam gun that is a 3oz sjhampoo mix? You twist it on underneath? I had one of those ages and still use the 3OZ bottle as a measuring gauge. If you want to use NXT in it, do about 1OZ NXT and 2 OZ hot water, put your hand over the top, shake like mad! Maybe put in a 1OZ of water with the NXT first then shake. You should notice better foam, even with Gold Class with that method. It doesnt mix product very well, but with 1OZ you will get a good foam for a short time. If you are good shaker go 50/50 and you will get longer amounts of foam. Set the sprayer to beam, and let it bounce off your car and it will foam more! Geoff
