Clutch Judder.....

Hi all,

Was just wondering if anyone else on here has experienced 'Clutch judder' in their GTi's?

I'm on my 2nd GTi (this one is an ED 30) and it's going into the dealer on Friday to have this problem looked at.

Fingers crossed it's covered under the warranty or else there'll be big trouble in little Stratford!!

im getting the same thing.

all the odd gears are fine, its the evens ones it happens in.

its only noticable when the gearbox is warm.

2nd will judder under medium acceleration as will 4th and 6th but to a much lesser extent.

also if i go over 80, on a closed track, there is an alarming whine.

let me know what they say, im still awaiting my dealer to get back to me on my issue.

"they are not aware of any issues, but its being looked at with VW".

Just to let you know that it was my flywheel. Apprantly it was slightly warped which was causing the clutch judder.

New flywheel and Clutch plate assembly now fitted and it's perfect - no cost incurred - good old VW warranty.

excellent good news. mine is heading to the dealer tomorrow

the judder has dissapeared, but has been replaced by a dull knocking sound.

got mine back from the dealers, they changed a wheel bearing on the front pax side, and the fuel pressure regulator.

they could not find anything wrong with the gearbox.

its all fine now again, and i take back everything nasty i said to my car ;-)

also i got some new SP9000 tires, WOW. really really quiet and very grippy, in the dry and the wet.

Symptoms were thus:- when pulling away in 1st there would be a vibration which was felt through the vehicle. If the revs were increased and the clutch slipped then it wasn't so noticable as the fly wheel (or engine) is spinning faster. So, if the clutch is slipped, as it needs to be to pull away from a stand still, and the revs kept low (eg 1000 - 1500 rpm) then the vibration was most noticable.

I also noted that if I hadn't used the car for a week or so then the judder was worse, but improved with use, to almost signify that there may have been a slight oil leak on to the clutch plate. The technician who investigated and carreid out the replacement said that he did not find any oil leaks.

They had it for 2 days and replaced the flywheel and Clutch assembly. A courtesy car was of course provided (a Glot Plus TDi - but i suppose it was better than walking!!)

how long has it ben done ?, i know of a few people having had the flywheel changed that find it only just comes back
