Oatz
Morning all Does anyone have a list of options which were available on the ed30? Also, a bit of a long shot but does anyone know whether it's still possible to get a new one? I'm currently looking at an 08 plate with 6k on the clock and minimal options (MFSW, Hi-line, arm rest, cruise, DSG) What kind of prices are these demanding/should I be paying at the moment? Many thanks Edited September 19, 2008 by Oatz
Oatz
Oh also what came with the car as new? Mats? bottle opener etc?? Thanks once again
brycey
Don't take this as gospel, I'm rarely right, but generally the options are as per the standard GTI (and most of the rest of the VW range). In other words the usual stuff; DSG, touch screen sat-nav, Xenons, phone prep, luxury pack, winter pack, reversing sensors, sunroof, iPod interface, 6 disk changer, uprated stereo, rear window tints. Standard spec is half leather, 18" wheels, body coulrede and slightly different lower bumpers and obviously an extra 30PS. I'm fairly sure to get the VW bottle opener you need a centre armrest ( I think only available with either 6 disk changer of ipod option) and that includes rear passenger vents. I'm pretty sure there's no new ones about, I've just bought a 3 month old one to replace a standard GTI, and I looked at new but there were very few in the network, and all were very basic spec. Motorpoint still have a good few, but they have zero options whatsoever, and have already lost at least 6 months of a 2 year only warranty (the clock sarts ticking as soon as they are built on Motorpoint cars). Price wise, standard cars are on at Motoropoint at £20k, but you only have to pay low 20s for a very good spec. I paid £21k for DSG, touchscreen, luxury pack, reversing sensors, tints, winter pack and Xenons. Hope this helps Edited September 19, 2008 by brycey

Golfgirl
No they didn't. They came with mats though - black with red trim round the edge.
Oatz
Thanks Golfgirl, there seems to be a common trend for ex mk4 R32 owners to move onto the ED30. Any regrets??
Golfgirl
I'd like to say no, but every time I see a Mk 5 R32 on the road I look at it and sigh, because that's what I was going to order to replace the Mk 4. The only thing I miss about it is the 4WD and the V6 growl. Although the Edition 30 is more nimble the R32 had more all-round grunt and handled superbly even though the suspension/brakes were still standard when I sold it. So yes, I do have regrets, but when it comes to renewing the tax at the end of the year I expect I'll be very grateful that I chose the Edition 30! It's too late now anyway so I'll just make the most of what I've got. The Edition 30 is a fantastic car and despite my regrets on selling the R32 and not replacing it with a newer one I still made a good choice choosing the Edition 30. It's just a completely different car to what I was used to before.
Grey & Great
I'm an ex Mk V R32 owner, and I feel the same as Golf Girl, could have got another R32 but this fully specced Ed 30 converted me. A remap and milltek will keep a smile on my face.
