Harksmeadow
Hi, I picked up my black Mk V GTI last week, man does it put a smile on your face ! Had to trade in my Alfa GT (believe everything you hear about Alfa's! In 9mths it must have been at the dealers more often than a junkie!). Anyway, the VW dealership I got the GTI from has offered me a 3yr service plan for £610 upfront or £640 on a monthly dd. The car currently has 22k on it, and just been serviced, so the service plan has 3 services included with the following work being done Srv 1)Oil, oil filter, spark plugs & filter pollen Srv 2) Engine oil, oil filter Srv 3) Engine oil, oil filter & Air filter Cant decide whether to sign up for this....does it seem good value to those in the know?! Muppetboy
How old is the car?
Harksmeadow
Ah yes, key point missing! It an 06 plate
Cuprabob
I assume it's on time and distance regime. It doesn't look that good value to me. Each of the services would need to average over £200 to gain anything. According to my service book the plugs on the 2.0 TFSI engine don't need replaced until 60k miles or 6 years. I live in Scotland therefore our labour rates tend to be lower than down south so that may be skewing my judgement Edited September 28, 2008 by Cuprabob
Tarmac_Terrorist
That looks like reasonable value to me. You'll struggle to get a basic service under a couple of hundred quid. Has the car had a brake fluid change? This should be done every 2 years so would need to be built in to the plan. If your car has DSG then I think that also needs an oild change at 40k miles - someone elso will be able to confirm. VW also 'heavily recommend' regassing the aircon every 2 years too. Obvious perhaps but I guess you are seriously considering keeping the car for 3 years?
Muppetboy
It didn't jump out to me as a super duper deal, and if it were me I'd probably not bother with it to be honest.
Cuprabob
TT is correct, the DSG oil and filter are changed at 40k. I got quoted around £150 from my local dealer recently as mine is due in a few months
Harksmeadow
Cheers for the advice guys. I think i'm going to go with it as its only £12 a month, and saves the hassle of a big bill coming round!
Cuprabob
If they include the DSG oil and filter change and brake fluid change then it is a good deal
TwoSheds
If they include the DSG oil and filter change and brake fluid change then it is a good deal It certainly would be a good deal if it included a DSG service which I doubt somehow. I've just been quoted £226...
