yodauk
Ive recently had LPG fitted to my A8 d3. I notice a week or so after it was fitted that the fan was running all the time....well after the car had warmed up. The car almost overheated yesterday. Initial checks have proved both of the front fans are turning and there are no leaks. The coolant is at the proper level. I suspect the thermostat is stuck. Can anyone here tell me where its located and whats involved with its replacement. Ive seen a few threads about this that seem to suggest its behind the timing belt. The belt was done about 4k ago so its not as if i can kill 2 birds with 1 stone here. Any advise would be gratefully received.

yodauk
Hi, Yes it was a front off job. But luckily it was under warranty. They replaced the water pump at the same time and put another new cambelt on as they didnt want to retension the belt even though it had only been on for 3k. Stupid place to put a thermostat if you ask me....apparently the RS4 and RS6 have the same problem with thermostat location. Silly when you think that £10 worth of thermostat needs about 6 8 hours labour and a complete front end dismantle to sort. Cheers
