Fairfax
 Has anyone had experience of contacting Sky to downgrade their subscription from Sky HD - normal Sky +? I am thinking of getting rid of the HD part of my package but want to know if my HD box can still be used with a Sky + package. I know I can ask Sky but would not be sure of an honest answer. Cupramax
Just tell them to cancel the £10 a month for HD services and bobs your uncle....
shark_90
Yes it does work, I use mine in this way and the freeview HD channels (such as BBC HD and CH4 HD) still work Just call them and ask to cancel your "HD Mix" as they call it. Waylander
Sound like a good plan. Getting ever-nearer to forking out for Sky+ and this would be a useful brucey-bonus. Not much price between Sky+ and Sky HD install IIRC? how long do you HAVE to pay for HD mix for?

CarMad
At least more channels are coming on, they have just added 6 new HD film channels its just over 3 pages worth in the guide now and more to come I hope. Going to stick with it but I've thought about ditching it but the HD content looks great (most of the time) so I'm going to stick with it and hope they drop the price a bit. Booster
Just ring them and tell them you want to cancel your subscription competely. They will do anything to keep you and hey presto, 6 months half price :D
pontyslapper
I got a Sky+ box for £30 including install month before last. Ring them, say you want to cancel due to not watching it as much, shift patterns have changed, gas/leccy up, something has to go. Listen to the spiel about +, then wait for the offer - first offer for me was £109, I said, I'm looking to save it not spend it. On hold for a nanosecond, then back with the £30 offer. Ring up on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday - apparently they have a set number of 'deals' and obviously run out later in the week as people get round to doing stuff. Have bought (and am waiting for - BLOODY DELL) a Hauppauge S2 HD PCI card for the PC - I'll only pick up one or two HD channels but for 45 quid - I thought what the hell - the price has now jumped upto over 70 quid for the same card?!?
