voxy53
Hi all Could someone help, My V5 golf 2003 has a problem with the rain sensors. When it rains, I put the lever on the intermittent position. It will then wipe once and then nothing until it decides that perhaps it will give two wipes and then nothing for ages. I took it to the dealers, and they said nothing is wrong! So I either do a single wipe manually, or slow constant speed in drizzelly rain. I thought that I would do the job myself, and bought a new sensor at great expense and a clear round sticker to attach it to the screen. The sticker has a red peel of paper on one side and light brown peel off paper on the other. When you peel the papers off, the light brown paper comes off easily but the red does not. Does anyone know which side should be stuck to the sensor and which to the screen ? thanks for your help in advance
CarMad
I'm not to familiar with the older VW's why does putting the wipers into intermittent turn the sensor on. On newer Audi / VW you just put the stalk up turns the Auto wipers on, another click up turns on the intermittent but turns off the auto wipers. Is it the same on yours, just checking your works the same and its right.
benjie
CarMad - it's an identical system to the MkIV Golfs. Put the stalk up 1 notch - (on non-rain sensing cars this is the intermittent position) the little clicky thing on the top controls the sensitivity - have you fiddled with that voxy53? Try putting the ignition on and the wipers into the sensing position and then tap the windscreen with your fingers (on the rain sensor where the mirror meets the windscreen) and see what happens... benjie
Jolly good! Hoping to add a rain sensitive wiper to my Golf soon as it's fairly basic wiring!
