bazza_g
Right, I've got as far as installing the 'bootcamp' WinXP that has been running just fine with the dual boot system. I've just downloaded and installed the trial version of VMWare Fusion - which also seems to be working ok too. But, when I installed the VMWare tools on the virtual XP as it told me to do, the XP installation thought the hardware had changed so much its asked me to re-validate WindowXP. I bought an original copy of XP off ebay, so when I put the key in again it says the product has been registered as many times as it can be and I need to contact Microsoft. Has anyone had this problem before? Are Microsoft helpful or am I going to get told to get lost! Cheers
Hopsta
Just call them up on their automated service and you'll get a monkey, tell them that your install blue screened and that you've had to redo, blame it on their flakey software
Ritey
When you created the virtual machine, did you use the quick install and put the key into their wizard, or the long way (non quick mode)?
bazza_g
As soon as I installed VMWare it recognised the bootcamp partition as XP - I didn't install XP through VMWare Its the VMWare tools that adds all the virtual stuff made XP think it was a whole new computer. So I should be ok calling them in the morning with a 'plausible story' ?
