Think it's just in beta stage now. Bloke at work just got the test email to download it.

Seems it's a virtual world where u can walk round and interact with other online users and purchase material via the stores. So i guess just a jazzier version of playstation store.

He did say he was in the shopping mall last night and someone shouted out lets dance - so everyone started raving! - Should be interesting, but hate to see how much room on the HD it'll take up.

  • 2 weeks later...

This just appeared on my PS3.

Downloaded it, updated and....... I can't see the point.

A virtual appartment which is pretty dull leads to a mall area with a cinema, shopping centre and bowling alley.

The cinema shows ads for games and movies. They take ages to load and you have to watch them on a virtual screen in the cinema. In effect this means my 43" screen is showing me a movie on a 24" screen.

The shops sell virtual clothes for your virtual person to show off to other virtual people but for real money. You can also buy virtual stuff for your virtual house.

Not tried the bowling.

Apart from long loading times between any area and the next and these are areas I've already downloaded. You move very slowly even running. You can skip the walking part and just jump to any area you have visited but again these take ages to load. Content takes ages to be delivered but I'm prepared to think this might be my connection.

3gb is alot of space for a glorified shopping and ad delivery system.

I think what they are trying is what we all were told the internet would be (virtual streets) it looks nice but people are too samey, it needs to be more wacky to be interesting and add in tools to develop your own look and feel.

I'll keep it installed and see what happens, it's interesting but not compelling and has too many problems right now.

I had the same problem a few days ago C931 or something. After the update today and trying again I managed to get on.

I can agree with some of the above comments, but it has some potential - Imagine the cinema constantly updated with the latest trailers for movies, games and music releases, movie rental and live music could be potentially available to rival sky On Demand as well as tv shows and I'm sure it won't take them long to do a proper "full screen" setting. The bowling and arcade are typical "fun stuff" a la the applications on facebook and at the end of the day, there are always silly people that will pay to have a bunch of furniture and different clothes in their virtual world.

How about a car dealership?
