paulb
A change of car means that my Alpine Satellite Navigation system is for sale. The system is based on Alpine's top of the range processor and offers the following features: <ul type="square">[*]CD Changer[*]Minidisc deck[*]FM/AM radio[*]Full Europe wide DVD Navigation system[*]Traffic Management Channel for live traffic information and dynamic rerouting round obstructions[*]Split screen display with map and turn instructions visible simultaneously[*]Pop out screen that can be hidden behind TT stereo flap when not in use The hardware offered is: <ul type="square">[*]IVX-C700 In dash pop up screen with radio and Minidisc player [*]NVE-N077PS DVD based navigation system [*]CHA-S624 6 disc DC Changer [*]TMC-001P Traffic Management Channel Dedicated receiver and the system is currently running software version 2.30 A picture of the system installed in my TT is here The cheapest I have seen this system available for is about £2900. Mine is in good condition but the navigation computer and media control unit are a bit scratched from trying to fit them into my TT. This doesn't really matter as these units are well hidden. I am happy to try and help people to install this in their car if required. I'm looking for about £1500. The only reason I am selling it is that I am about to buy a car with a factory fit navigation system. Paul

JohnS4
It looks interesting as I am thinking about getting a Sat Nav system and yours looks very nice however I have a few questions. I can find details of all the equipment except the IVX-C700. Is this a recent model ? Have you any specifications for it. specifically screen size and resolution. Secondly how easy was this to fit to your Audi ? I have a 2001 S4 with the Concert system and BOSE. The Concert system doesn't look like a standard size unit for one thing and I guess I would need a cable to convert the standard Audi plugs to fit the Alpine unit. Did you have any problems with the GPS antenna fitting - I believe some Audis have special windscreens which do not let GPS signals pass through cleanly. Also the radio antenna has an amplifier which is powered from the standard Audi antenna cable I believe. Did you have any problems with that ? Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to buy something then have loads of hassle trying to make it work. Audi dealers are no help whatsoever with this. They won't even sell me the tool I need to remove the Concert radio ("security reasons" so they say) Thanks John
paulb
Hi John Lets take these one by one... I can find details of all the equipment except the IVX-C700. Is this a recent model ? Have you any specifications for it. specifically screen size and resolution. The IVX-C700 is basically the Minidisc version of the IVX-C806 CD headunit shown here. It's a 7 inch widescreen display with a 480x234 pixel TFT display. It is the resolution of screen that the Alpine system is designed to work with. I bought the unit about 2 years ago as an end of line but the CD version is still current on Alpine's website. Secondly how easy was this to fit to your Audi ? I have a 2001 S4 with the Concert system and BOSE. The Concert system doesn't look like a standard size unit for one thing and I guess I would need a cable to convert the standard Audi plugs to fit the Alpine unit. I fitted it to a TT with Bose and a Concert unit. The mechanical mounting of stuff was more complex than the electronics. The Concert is a normal size with a wide front panel. Autoleads sell blanking plates to fill the gaps either side of the headunit (you can see them in the picture). Autoleads also sell an adaptor to allow the system to interface to the Bose amplifier. Did you have any problems with the GPS antenna fitting - I believe some Audis have special windscreens which do not let GPS signals pass through cleanly. Also the radio antenna has an amplifier which is powered from the standard Audi antenna cable I believe. Did you have any problems with that ? I had no problem with the GPS antenna which I mounted under the dash. I think the only problem is the metalised windows on the A8 but I am not sure. Does your mobile work in the car? If so, it should be fine. Again, Autoleads do an adaptor to allow the amplified Audi aerial to be used successfully. Where are you in the country? I could possibly help you out with fitting if that helps? The system has just been removed from my Vectra as I am replacing the car. I have installed it successfully in two cars and fitted another system in a TT so am comfortable with how to fit these things. Let me know what you think Paul
mattcony
Just in case you don't have any luck, would you be intrested in splitting it up as I would have the DVD unit and the TMC box from you seporatley. I know you probubly would like to sell it on all as one but worth a shot. Cheers Matt
