alFR
Hi, Finally got around to giving my car a proper clean (wash, clay, wash, finish with SRP then a couple of coats of EGP). Looks great, apart from one slight problem - in a couple of places on the bonnet and front bumper there are tiny nicks in the paint (not even chips really, looks like just little marks where stones have hit but not penetrated the paint). Here the EGP has left some of its white residue in the marks that I couldn't buff out as it is fractionally below the surface of the surrounding paint, so it has remained there as tiny white dots, which makes the marks visible whereas they weren't before. Any ideas for avoiding them next time? Could use a different product I suppose, but I like the look and protection of the EGP otherwise.
Tarmac_Terrorist
I find the same with SRP although to be fair all polishes are a bugger for this! I don't believe there really is a way of preventing it but you may find that topping SRP with a durable wax may hide them better. Dodo Juice do some interesting waxes. steelwind101
Hi You can always try spraying a little quick detailer on the area and then buffing with your finger surrounded by an MF cloth. If you choose to purchase a new product EGP wont need to go to waste on a self as its just about the most durable product you can use on your wheels and exhaust trims! Try Optimum Opti-Seal if you want a great sealant. I think you will like it b/c it has no residue unless you over apply it. All you do is spray it on the foam applicator and let it glide over the car in a thin layer. DONE! No buffing, no hazing, no residue. Cures for topping in around 40 mins if you want, though its a great product. I first purchased this a couple of years ago in the USA and i still have about half a bottle left. It costs £15 and durability is about 12-15 weeks in my experince. Here are some videos so you know what i mean: YouTube - Optimum Opti-Seal Demo Motorgeek and detailed obession sell the Optimum line! If you need a quick detailer OID (Optimum instant detailer is good) and i got there Version 2.0 of the Carwash and its great. One thing about all there line its Polymer based, no 'Nuba wax. The spray wax is a great post wash product to use after the Opti Seal. Geoff Edited April 27, 2009 by steelwind101
alFR
Cheers for the advice guys. That Optimum sealant sounds good, I like the idea of no buffing! The EGP was a bit of a sod to get off in a couple of places where I'd slightly overapplied it. Will try the QD trick as well until the EGP runs out.
