Hi Dibbs

I have done a review on the shampoo on here before, it just takes everyone a while to catch on ;)!

Yes the shampoo is good but last time i checked Motorgeek only had the old version in 1 gallons. It smells like pear drops, it foams well and as with all Optimum products leaves a polymer layer when its done. It doesnt clean as well as say Duragloss 90X.

Optimum also sell Optimum No Rinse, i have used that in the USA (its a rinseless wash). We often face a damper road surface then i experince in the USA, as such we get alot more bonded to the lower panels which i find its easier to rinse away with the hose then take time gently washing with ONR.

OID is a great product too. It "should" come in a concentrate that makes a gallon alas they are milking the market with the smaller spray bottles. Its good stuff, really slick finish and a layer of polymers too.

The real gem in the Optimum line IMO is the Opti Seal.

Thanks Geoff for the reply.

I may try a small sample of the shampoo and get a 32oz bottle of the QD.

I am running really low on QD's at the moment. I normally have about 5 on the go....:roflmao:

Any other QD's worth a go apart from the obvious CK QS, FK 425, Poorboys QD+, and Serious Performance?

Hello Dibbs!

I can totally recommend you a very sweet QD! Coconut flavouring and at it normally sells at £17-£22 is Pinnacles Crystal Mist! It used to be a spray wax but they now have dedicated spray wax so this a super luxery QD.

It doesnt get mentioned so much these days as there are alot of new products out and most of those are from newer companies but at £10.99 you should add it to your collection. It spreads smoothly and increases depth and shine, i recommended to Arch and he bought some too.

Pinnacle Crystal Mist Detail Spray 16oz Elite Car Care

There is alot in this product which you are not getting with the polymer based ones. My advice is to keep it off the windscreen. Its "similar" to say Zymol field glaze which sells at about £22.

Aside from that i can recommend Victoria Wax QD and also CG's Synthetic Detailer.

Personally get the Pinnicle while its cheap. The maddness is Elite was doing Signature Series for £22 or so. That is a wax that is pretty high end and designed for silvers and metalics. Now its back up £35 and his Souveran is £65 and i was going to get some the weekend before he put the prices up!

BTW the Optimum shampoo is 1oz per gallon so 32oz doesnt go to far and yes this an expensive hobby with an addictive quality to it!

Thanks for the info Geoff.

I've just gone onto ECC and The Pinnacle is £10.72 compared to Motorgeek's £17 !!!. So thanks for the heads up.

The prices are funny aren't they, must be something to do with the exchange rate etc......

Cheers Pal ;)

Coconut flavouring?? Your not supposed to drink the stuff Geoff ! Don't try this at home kids :P

Let us know how you get on with the Optimum stuff Dibbs.

I'm trying to be strong for a couple of months and not buying any more detailing products. Threads like this do not help! - it's like watching chocolate adverts whilst on a diet

:roflmao: Phil !!

I think I'll be placing an order for one of those filters tomorrow Phil and then maybe next week some ONR. One other thing I may try is Optimum QD, any experience of this one?

Considering some Optimum No Rinse.

Thoughts please guys, I'm a bit sceptical so fire away !

I dont think there is much to worry about! When you get a bottle in your hands and mix up the solution i think you will better understand how it works. Its very very lubie and b/c its Optimum its loaded with polymers which will encapsulate the dirt.

I was a skeptic and used a product called QEW before and then moved to Optimum No Rinse on my cars in the US. I have not used it here all that much b/c i know there is a certain size bits of grits that no matter how much lube and encapsulation you have it isnt safe to rub these. You could always PW first, i think your biggest concern or atleast mine was that you have to dry each section as you go, getting the drying towel on a dirty panel happened once or twice.

You can mix ONR at QD strength as a pre wash on an area, spray it on and let it dwell for few seconds and then use your ONR solution from the bucket.

I always found 2-3 good towels works best, i wouldent get to obessed with finding the plushesed towels either. They will obsorb alot of ONR solution and you will have it running all over the paintwork. The deeper the pile the further dirt can travel in to the towel, potentially coming out on the paintwork as you will have to spend for ever in the second bucket (if you need 2 buckets) rinsing them free of dirt.

I have the Poorboys Blue towels, plus on one side and shorter on the other from Detailed Obessesion and i would say they were fine!

Motorgeek has the ONR in sample sizes!
