A8 2004 D3 - Sound problem from the MMI

Hi

strange thing happened today, turned on my radio and got a LOUD distorted sound just through the Bose bass speaker on the back parcel shelf, no sound through front or rear speakers, the distorted noise was the radio but only just legible through all the distortion. Tried the NAV, TV etc and exactly the same problem, the outputed audio was the right channel, ie NAV when NAV selected TV when TV selected etc but it was very loud, badly distorted and you couldn't turn it down only off.

Turned it on and off a few times and problem still remained so gave up, tried it 30 mins later and it was fine, been OK all day so far.

Any ideas? Is this problem happened to anyone else?

thanks

Which MMI firmware are you on? Might be something to do with that.

I get a similar problem with my home amp (not Bose though) and it gives an immensely loud static type noise with the proper audio in the background on startup now and again. The old reboot seems to do the trick.

I've got an 04 A8 4.2 with Bose, just get distorted sound through the front left speaker only., for Radio, CD, NAV, TV. I thought an amp may have blown.

Based on your experience I'll see what it's like when I drive home tonight, hopefully it's cured itself.

If not what's the key sequence to reset the MMI ?.
