ishy187
I have a 2000 vw golf tdi done 130k on the clock, i was driving on motorway oil light came up there was low oil filled it up at service station, drove 2 miles there was loss of speed and it started smoking black smoke, stopped checked oils there was no oil left it seems like oil was burnt out, no big clangs or big noises just black smoke fogging the motorway, pulled up and got towed, Any one with anyone with suggestions for a layman? cruiser647
Could be a turbo seal. Occasionally, that problem makes the engien self destruct! You are lucky! Turbo seal fix will be expensive in labour. Any decent VAG indy will be able to sort it. Make sure you use the right VW oil as well. It is possible that you put the wrong oil in the car, VAG diesels make light work of the wrong oils! Service stations don't usually have the right oil. When was the last service? stephen327
Just asking... is it possible that the engine will ruin if wrong oil is placed in the said car? I had the same problem and still don't know if this has caused the problem...
cruiser647
With the wrong oil, the engine can ruin itself. The turbo will eat the oil, the seals can deteriorate and the oil can 'perish' under the battering that modern diesels give them. VW verified oils are the only way to go.
