del_piero_3
Hey guys, I wasn’t sure which section to post this but anyway here we go.... I want to hardwire my GPS tracker (TK102/GPS102) to my VW Bora 2000 (W). I’ve bought the power lead but am not sure if this connects directly to the battery or some other connection i.e. fuse box. Here is the picture of the car charger: http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3392/originalhardwirecharger.jpg. The red wire connects to positive terminal and the white wire is negative (GND). Any help is appreciated, don’t want to barbecue the car
burble
I'd connect it into the fuse box and probably put a fuse inline too.

del_piero_3
Right I've opened the fuse box, see the attachment. Do I slot the two wires from the GPS charger (red and white) to one of the free slots in the fuse box i.e. 16, 17 (see pict)? If yes then at the front of the fuse box what amp fuse do I put in. I hope am working in the right area...
mb
If you are going this way then I'd take off one of the small fuses (5 Amp) although under the steering wheel (a few T20s to remove) is a bus bar that has switched & permanent feeds & earth points are near there too (but use an in-line fuse to protect the GPS unit). If you have a magnetic antenna this mounts nicely behind the clocks (2 x T20 to remove) make sure you don't turn ignition on with clocks disconnected although for a GPS antenna should be no need to disconnect the clocks. MeAgain
I need to do the same, hard-wire install DC charger for the TK102 gps/tracker unit. Have ordered the power adapter, and the info states: 12-24v DC input 5v DC 1000MA output To protect the device, what size fuse should I be looking at, if I connect it into the fusebox?
