Golf Mk4 1.6
I need some help. My aircon on my Golf Mk4 isnt that cold and I was wondering if regassing it would help?? Ive found some gas and an adaptor on the Halfords website and all the reviews say that it is easy to do but ive looked in the Haynes manual and there is nothing to show me where to do this and I cant find anything on the internet If someone could help me then that would be great because the weather is getting hotter and my hair is getting messy having my windows open all the time Thanks
Tipex
For the price of the Halfords a/c regas thing it isn't worth it, I assume your talking about the EZ chill spray can thing? I used one, and while it's easy to do, the result was almost zero improvement, so for £40 you'd be better off finding a professional who will re-charge the system properly for only an extra tenner. Seriously, he'll be able to tell you if there are any other faults, rather than just the gas being low, you should be able to get it done for £50. Golf Mk4 1.6
I think that Kwik Fit are doing it for £40something but im not a lover of them. As you said for the price of the gas I can take it to a pro who will be able to tell me what exactly is needed.
petsy
Don't forget you may also need compressor oil in addition to the regas. Personally I would avoid Kwik Fit doing the job
Tipex
I cant imagine Kwik Fit could get it that wrong, it's a very simple procedure, you just plug the gas bottles onto either the low pressure or high pressure schrader valve depending on what re-gassing equipment you are using, and fill it until the gauge says it's full. Simple really, and Kwik Fit are advertising it at £45 with a 10% guarantee, i.e. if they can't lower the output temp at the vents by 10% it's free.
