PsYcHe
sounds like it could be the temperature sender... Or maybe the dash cluster. First should be cheap, second isn't!
E51 NGH
thanks for the reply. Do you know where I find the temp sender? pictures would help, as I am abit thick!
PsYcHe
Would depend on the engine.... Though not sure where they are on the D3 engines https://erwin.audi.com/erwin/performSearchArticle.do Would help. It's only €4 for an hour of searching and is the proper Audi documentation. Figure11
Which engine code do you have? There are several temperature senders and sensors. Temperature sensors are for outside and climate control and senders for the coolant system. Do you have any codes? Having said that they all use the same senders 06A 919 501 A and 059 919 501 A Edited July 15, 2009 by Figure11

E51 NGH
all sorted changed the coolant temperature sensor, ECS light gone off, temperature working as normal. Garage quoted me £120 plus VAT, but thought I'd have a go myself. Sensor cost me under £10 and took half hour!
