Audi A4 2.4 B6 DIS and Trip Computer Problem

Looking for some advice.

This is my first post so take it easy on me!

I've just aquired an Audi A4 2.4 Auto 2003 (B6 I think).

This is my first audi, I've been driving a bmw 525i - M50 (1996) for last five years - wife's now driving this!

It's just been imported into the UK from the United Arab Emirates.

It was made in Germany (LHD) and model is Limited Edition.

It's been in the UK before a couple of years ago and had new head lights fitted as well as a new dash to show MPH instead of KPH.

I'm try to establish if it has the trip computer.

The buttons are on the end of the wiper stock (back, next & reset). Nothing happens when I press the buttons at the end of the wiper stock but when I press the reset button the middle of the display goes blank and returns when reset is pressed again.

The car has the standard chorus stereo but there is no stereo info displayed on the DIS, just blank.

The car has cruise control and the reversing beep which work fine.

Could the car have been built with no trip computer and have the controls fitted on wiper stock?

When the dash was swapped could it have not been configured correctly for the stereo and trip computer?

Before I start spending money on this issue would be grateful for some advice! Not sure where to start.

Have attached pictures of the DIS and wiper controls.

Thanks.

It looks like a simple coding issue. Where are you located?

If you can find someone local with VCDS or VAG-COM as it was formerly known, you need to get them to do the following:

Change adaptation channel 019 to the value 31010

Change adaptation channel 062 to 17

It may be that other things are incorrect, I could have a proper look for you if required but it would mean you travelling to Mansfield.

Hope you get it sorted and welcome to Tyresmoke

Shark_90,

thanks for the welcome & info.

Unfortunately I'm up in Scotland (Hamilton) so not that practical to visit.

I'm planning to keep this car for some time, what diagnostic tool do you recommend?

Is it the vag-com from ilexa.lco.uk @ 219.30? Will this allow me to fix my problem?

One option would be to put it into Audi and let them fix it but it probably would cost the same as the diag tool.

Thanks,

Slapshot

Yes, that's the best one to buy. It's called the USB HEX-CAN lead. I found that Marshall's Industrial - Volkswagen powersystems and components distributor for the UK. IMPCO Gas products Distributor were cheapest when I had to replace my cable earlier in the year.

It's very handy to have VCDS and as you say, it would probably cost the same if not more to get it sorted at the stealers. If you pick up the lead and give me a shout, we can run through it and get you sorted +++
