gstadt
Hi All, had glowplug reheat fault when driving on motorway, with a loss of power. Managed to get rid of it by turning the engine off and back on. Car is on limit of Audi 60k miles warranty so phoned the garage - they said that because I'd cleared the fault by turning the engine off they wouldn't be able to tell what the fault is, surely the ECU logs all the faults and has to be cleared by a computer, so they can pull the fault code off to tell what happened? Emailed customer services who got in touch with the Audi dealer and agreed with them..... Had my car serviced at the Audi dealer a few weeks back, coincidence?..... kite
Sounds like the car went into limp mode. The fault should still be logged. Give the car a good thrash over the week end and see if it limps again. Oh when you turn it off before returning to dealer it will "dissappear"
malarcy
I have had mixed results with "latched" faults - the crankshaft speed sensor caused poor hot start and "EPC" light problems - that recorded a fault code ok, same with the coolant temp sensor and a few other odd things over the past 4 years. But - twice since I have owned it I have had a big red BRAKES on the DIS immediately after starting - and that has not left any error code logged - and ot goes after restarting the engine. Personally - based on that experience I would say the stealer is making an assumption, and they should check it out. And (again from experience) I would say that Audi customer services always agree with the stealer - but your mileage may vary. Malarcy
