wyliss
I have the Audi extended warranty on my car, just renewed it @ £699. Question is with the calipers showing signs of rust would they be replaced under this warranty? Has anybody else had this? Thanks
Milo
I very much doubt it. I had a 2.0T for 6 months from new and the calipers were immaculate, almost a Hammerite finish. I then got another one and within another 6 months those ones looked ropey. I queried it not long after and they just shrugged basically. There's nothing mechanically wrong with them so they'll not be interested. Best solution is to get them wire brushed and painted if it's really bugging you. Booster
I have the same thing on one of my calipers. When the car goes in for its first service I will ask them to look at it.
wyliss
If you could report back booster that would be good. When is yours in for service?. Milo any recommendations on a decent make of caliper paint ? Don't want them looking to blingy if you see what I mean. Cheers for the replies guys. Milo
No idea, I left mine au naturale in the end You can get proper brake caliper paint which is heat resistant and won't discolour but it can be a bugger to use as it's a 2 pack I think and goes off quite quickly which can be a problem if you can only take one wheel off at a time. I'm sure people have used Hammerite (textured and smooth) and had no problems. Like all painting though, preparation is all important and they'd need be nipping clean and completely degreased. Booster
When is yours in for service? DIS says 1700 miles+++ With the Y spoke alloys on my car there is quite a bit of gap to see through so it does stand out. Will let you know what they say.
