jbuchanan
Hi all, I have a 2003 A3 2.0 TDI - 140 which has been re-mapped a few months ago. Sorry for the list in advance but, there are three things on the car which i would like to try and sort if possible. 1) Just recently i have development a sort of judder. When in gears 1-4 everything is fine no matter what the speed or RPM. When in 5th or 6th at low RPM, say about 2000 - 3000, when you put your foot down there is a heavy judder which then disappears completely when above 3000RPM. Ive read in other places on here that it could be split hoses etc but does anybody else have any ideas? I have no Engine Management lights on etc. 2) When the car is cold when changing gear from first to second and third back into second it is quite stiff and prone to crunch from time to time. Once the car has warmed up a little the problem is gone and the gearbox is fine. I wondered if there judder and gearbox were linked somehow by a worn clutch etc but there doesnt seem to be a problem and it isnt slipping. 3) Once the car is warm and has been sat at 90oc for a while i have noticed that the needle will drop back down to 50oc, the revs will pick up slightly on idle, and then maybe 5 mins later will spring straight back up to 90oc. Is this a doggy temp sensor? or the gauge on the dash? Thanks for any help

A4Cab-Chris
I also seem to have a judder when pulling away in first. Doesnt happen all the time. Im monitoring it as I have just bought the car from audi dealership.
Calum1982
Just spoken to my mates son who works as a mechanic for audi/vw. He said "stick the car in 6th at 50mph, if it judders like mad, get your Dual mass Flywheel changed. Audi know the flywheels are faulty from 05-08 and have admitted it. Dont drive to long with it as it can break up and damage your gearbox. Im going to try and get a goodwill payment.

Calum1982
Just got may car back today. My Local Mechanic said the DMF was totally goosed. I got my timing belt and water pump changed aswell. £1200 - £270 of which was labour. Cant believe the price, but delighted it is all sorted. Waiting to see if audi will give me some kind of Good Will Gesture. I am going to show them the parts to see what they say regarding their dodgy DMF's. jbuchanan
thanks for the info Calum. Im just waiting on a few things before set about trying to sort the DMF. I have a after warranty package and dont know if flywheel is included or not. Have to wait till Tuesday to find out. Sorry to be cheeky Calum 1982 but do you think you could ask your mates son next time your talking to him if the gear changing i mentioned above is linked the the flywheel or not? im just hoping it is so could solve two problems with one part. Thanks.
