scamp
Thursday April 8th, 2010 This trackday is to help raise money, for the Sophie appeal. 4 year old Sophie Nugent, from Angmering, West Sussex, suffers with Cerebral Palsy, leaving her unable to walk or stand on her own, due to her brain giving incorrect signals to her feet, leaving them permanently pointed and, she is often struck down with painful spasms. But all that could change with the help of a procedure to help her walk, that is only available in the USA, although her family need to raise £40,000 to pay for it. So far, they have raised half the money needed through family savings and the generosity of local people. Sophie has been accepted by the hospital of Missouri, USA, and the operation is set for July the 20th. Called selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, it is a neurological procedure that changes the signals from the brainto the muscles, meaning Sophie could walk unaided, stand on her own and crucially, enjoy a pain free life. There is a limit of 45 cars on the day, the cost being £120 per car with payment required in advance. There can be no refunds of monies once booked. Goodwood has noise regulations which will allow only cars within a limit of 98db static testing and a 96db drive by limit. Signing in time and pre track day noise tests will be at 8.00-8.30, with track time starting at 9am. We will be running a semi open pit lane so you should get some good track time!! As this is a charity day, you must be willing to take passengers out who will be donating towards the charity. These passenger laps will be between 10am and 4pm, with track time from 9am to 5pm, with one hour for lunch. If you would like to be a passenger in any of the cars doing the track day, all you need to do is come along to Goodwood race circuit between 10.00 - 4.00 on Thursday 8th April. You must sign an indemnity form, pay £15 for 4 laps, and then chose any car you wish to go out in (allowing for booking times). For people who would just like to drive around the circuit (in a non competitive manner), there will be an opportunity between 12.00 and 1.00 to do this, but, there will be limited numbers allowed so you need to book in advance. The cost for this will be £20 and will give you 4 parade laps. To do this, your car will need to be ready to go on at 12pm and you must be able to show a valid drivers licence. All passengers and drivers must be wearing trousers and have there arms fully covered, helmets will be available on the day.
