blackjack
My car was in for it's MOT at Jem in Colindale (they are fantastic, I've used them for years) and while I was waiting I walked up the road to their Subaru showroom and managed to persuade them to let me have a go on the 1.5 petrol version of the hatchback. It feels planted as you'd expect, I love the sound of the engine and it looks better in real life than in print. The downside is the boot which is nowhere near as big as that of a Focus or the like, you'd struggle to get a buggy and a few other bits in there. As a family hatchback with character I don't think it would work. If you don't have kids and are after something like a 1-series it would make a decent alternative. garcon magnifique
Mate, the 1.5 is a fecking dreadful car! And yes, you've hit on the biggest reason it'll never be a family hatch option.
