Cambelt change!

That's a very good price. Here's some of the prices I've been getting of late:

Best Audi delaer prices: £547 South England, £650 South Wales. Both incl tensioners and water pump and VAT

Best specialist prices: £700 (West London), £750 (this one advised a thermostat and ribbed belt change in the price)

A bit odd how dealers are coming out cheaper than specialsts. Do Audi have some incentives on A8 cambelts at the moment? A8s are usually omitted from their 'Fixed Price' deals. Presumably because they think we are rich enough to pay v high prices. In my case couldn't be more wrong!

I had my cambelt done when i purchased the car. A few weeks later the thermostat went.

Guess where it is? Right behind the cambelt.

Whole front of the car back off for the sake of a £10 thermostat. OH and cause you arent supposed to retention cambelts another new one of those too.

Thank God for comprehensive warranties.

I've just been getting quotes for the same job on an S8:

Best main dealer price was from Specialist Cars Audi Service in Dunfermline at £550. They do Audi service, but not sales. Huddersfield Audi were second best at £466 plus the water pump. However, I expect to go to Teeside next week so I will be giving them a ring now to see if they can do better than Dunfermline.

The most outrageous was Camerons Audi in Perth at £1,161.69. I can only assume they were planning to give me an R8 V10 courtesy car for a week.

For the accompanying service Stirling Audi came in best at £340 and Camerons were again the most expensive at £682.81.
