MKV R32 Bad Missfire

Hi All just driven from Norwich to Hastings and on the way my R32 got ill.

Just before the Dartford bridge in heavy traffic the Exhaust Warning light came on and the car started to missfire badly.

Stopped at the services and had a quick look but could not see anything. Started it up again and still missfiring. It drove so long as I revved it a bit but it sounded as though a couple of cylinders were not firing.

Just run VAG-COM on it and it reports missfire (I could have told it that!).

I am not very familiar with VAG-COM but these are the errors:

Address 01: Engine Labels: 022-906-032-BDB.lbl

Part No SW: 022 906 032 CE HW:

Component: MOTRONIC ME7.1.1G 6733

Revision: --H02--- Serial number: VWZ7Zxxxxxxxxxxx

Coding: 0000178

Shop #: WSC 80182 538 419430

2 Faults Found:

000768 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

P0300 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded

000769 - Cylinder 1: Misfire Detected

P0301 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded

Readiness: 0000 1000

Is this a coil pack failure? they seempretty common.

Also could someone tell me which cylinder is Number 1?

And lastly anyone know the part number for a coil pack for a 5door 06 MK5R32?

Thanks in advance

A quick update on this, the original problem was a failed coil pack, which had spit in 2 in the hole and was a f**ing nightmare to remove.

However last week my car went to VW for an MOT and they said there was a recall on it and they replaced all the coil packs.

So if you have a failry early V R32 its worth giving VW a call to see if they can sort it.
