Apple hardware, a whole stack of it

Right, bear with me as I shall have to confirm the details of this lot tomorrow and will post pictures. For now, the information given should be treated as provisional and to be confirmed.

Today we completed the aquisition of another company and we had to arrange shipment of a truckload of assets over to our offices. We've closed the company down immediately as it was essentially a client-base purchase although I made them a cash offer on assets to get the deal to close quicker and get their clients into contracts (and also to make sure we could close it straight away).

That means I now have a systems room full of old Apple gear that we won't use and I'll be throwing on eBay if I don't get anyone interested in the next few weeks or we don't think of anything interesting to do with it.

In summary:

Apple X Server, but not your normal gubbins. Full cabinet housed unit with internal racks that takes 4 men to lift it up steps one at a time. Must weigh 1/4 ton easily. RAID array (stunning looking thing) on rack, Apple X Server on rack, APC UPS designed for the X Server, on rack although I have a suspicion the batteries are spent after a quick look. Available 2TB on array after what I am guessing is RAID 5 is accounted for. All cables, lockable glass fronted cabinet with fan thingies on the side (we like to get all technical). No keyboard or mouse or monitor, but if you want them we can sort them from all the other stuff. Age, no idea but I am guessing 5 years. All (other than UPS caution) appeared to be functioning on a quick boot up without issue. I know it was £15k+ of gear years ago, god knows what it is worth now but it is corporate level stuff and a very impressive piece of kit (and very very big, about 2.5ft wide, 4 ft deep and 2.5 ft high).

2 x Apple PowerMac G5's with Dual 2ghz PowerPC processors running 3.5gb of DDR 400 PC3200 RAM and, i think, OSX 10.3.x. Both with keyboards, mice, and LCD monitors of around 19". One is an Apple display, the other is a Formac.

2 x Apple G4 Quicksilvers running OSX (need to check version). Unknown RAM, though suspect 1.5 -2.0gb. Unknown processors as of yet. No monitors. They were huge old Viewsonics and I told them to keep them because I couldn't be bothered disposing of them as it seemed unlikely anyone would want them.

No CDs with any of it though I am chasing those but don't know if I'll get anywhere. Will wipe all data before sale.

Cables all seem present.

There is also an older Apple MacBook Pro, 15" I think but it looks well worn with many keys completely erased of the lettering. That belonged to the owner and I reckon it is 3 years old minimum. Was working fine earlier today though, booted up, ran, booted down, blah, blah.

If anyone is interested, say so, and I'll confirm tomorrow with pics.

Pictures:

Apple XServer with 14 slot RAID array, 8 occupied drives. Total approx capacity available 2Tb. UPC is an MCE unit though this has not been tested yet. XServe and RAID both power up and are fully operational. One drive is showing failed so we have ordered a replacement for this from the States. Note that monitor is not included in sale. Open to offers on this unit.

System cabinet has 4 fans and an integrated power block although we have plugged directly into mains for ease of testing.

2 x PowerMac G5 Dual 2Ghz each with 3.5Ghz DDR 400 PC3200 RAM (combination of 512mb and 256mb chips, could be increased to 4gb RAM if you replaced 256mb chips).

Note these are both the identical true dual processor units. 64mb video cards so not much in that respect but the G5 had impressive power to begin with and has handled anything we've thrown at it this morning).

Both units come complete with the original inner plastic guards, keyboard and mouse (the latter are very tatty but in fine working order).

Below are the pictures of the G4's though I still have to confirm the spec on these:

Monitors are as was mentioned:

Original Apple Studio Display model M7649

Formac Gallery FGD2010-1

All would need to be collected and anyone interested in the XServe needs to be warned it is a 4 man lifting job and you'll need either a big estate car with hellish suspension or, preferably, a van.

Will consider offer as a job lot for convenience. We didn't pay a lot for all of this, so just make an offer if you're interested or drop me a PM.

We have a couple of Samsung monitors if you want one (at a reasonable price).

That monitor must have lasted you a few years!

Samsung Syncmaster 943's, still have the boxes for them actually cos they're about 8 months old and haven't been used much (probably less than a few days switched on, if that). 19".

This one is a Samsung 913N, it's 19" but 19" square rather than widescreen. I switch it between 2 computers and just recently once it's been on for a while, it won't power up properly when switched ("resolution not optimised" or something like that and needs to be unplugged for 20 minutes or so. Works fine when only used on one computer though?!

I think I got it off you in 2006 iirc so it's lasted a while +++

Is the 943 widescreen (I know, I should Google it really....)?

RAID Server and one G5 now gone.

Still got the other G5 and both G4's. Both monitors have gone.

Going dirt cheap now. We got a lot more for the RAID than we ever expected so the rest can just go for best offers so we I can have some space back in my office.

Remember this?

Well after 6 weeks of waiting for the buyer to collect it I have had enough and they were told to sod off today when they said they couldn't get here to pick it up in the 'foreseeable weeks'. No money paid, so sale cancelled.

I want rid. It is now sat in my office and I'm sick of it.

So, read above, get here to pick it up and it'll go at a loss - £500 and it is anyones.

Yes, that's a stupidly low price and you could probably hire a HGV to pick it up and take it to France and still be quids in - but the fact is it has to go now cos' I'm pissed off with it being here.

The spare drive didn't come from the States so you can order that yourself for $180 or whatever it was or it'll run quite happily as it is.

If someone wants to give an extra £60 I'll throw the Samsung monitor in too.
