I want to retrofit the 06+ bumper and grille to my 05 A8 , After searching the web i have so much conflicting information that im more confused than when i started. I want to get a definitive list of parts together before i start.

of course i need the Bumper and grille set

then the parts for the new front, fog grilles etc

and probably the washer jets

not sure if i need new fogs

but do you need to change the bonnet and headlamps ?(I have Bi Xennons) they look the same to me.

having just said that there was confusing info I have just found this post from 2008 by craigyb which i would count as the best source of info. though this is to a 2008 spec from what i guess would be the already facelifted 2005 model to a 2008, it still doesnt answer my question if i need a bonnet and new headlights from my pf 2005

This roughly what is need to facelift a 2005/7 car to 2008, should give you an idea. The lights are the same front and back.

Maybe you have, but all W12's came with a single frame grill so it doesn't answer the questions.

My understanding is it is not a straight swap for split grill to single frame.

I found a thread on navplus.us but it's only a single post, but it does mention painting the new hood (bonnet) and bumper, which makes sense.

If you change the lights for the same type, ie halogen split grill to halogen single frame then the wiring should be identical. I have not seen any mention of having to replace the lights, but it does make sense that you would if the bumper/bonnet has different cutouts for lights.
