ken
Hi, Any one know the routine to repair the electric window mechanism on the drivers door of my passat. Came out this morning started the car to warm it up and after 15 minutes I tried to open the window and something inside the door snapped and now the window will not work. The electric motor works and i can hear something loose turning inside the door about 6 inches down the door, sounds like something has snapped due to the frozen up window.Thanks. TIDYDUBS
Could be routine but not that common, although it does sound like your window reg has pinged. You will probably have to replace the window regulator assembly carrier complete. Door trim off and a series of torx 30 screws you dont need to change the motor/control unit that comes off(a further 3 torx 30 screws.) Outer door handle and the screws and M6 or M8 spline for screws on door latch too it really is a fiddle...............dont attempt this if you really have A. limited patience and start cursing it B no idea or C bugger it its too dam cold out there to attempt this ill pay some one to do it. You will need and external torx drive not sure on the size to clamp the window in the reg. Regards Tidy
