Pincher
Anybody got them? I've just got some from Ebay and they have end caps with a long spindle attached. As far as I can see, the spindle doesn't seem to do anything? Has anyone got any idea what I'm talking about?
Milo
You need the feet pack to attach the aero bars to the car's roof rails. Those end caps with the spindle are used to tighten the feet onto the roof rails. Once tightened, you lock the end cap in position to stop people stealing everything
garcon magnifique
I had a caramel Aero bar today. It was bloody lovely.
Pincher
Gotcha. I've got fixed points on my car so it looks like the spindles are indeed redundant for me. Thanks for clarifying Milo
Pincher
Not been around much recently but Garcon, it's good to see that you're still a pilchard
Milo
Ah, not sure how the fixed feet work, think you might still use the spindles to tighten the bars onto the fixed feet? You'll still need the end caps to lock in position as they stop people nicking whatever you're using e.g. bike racks. Edit - the spindles on mine both lock the feet onto the rails and lock the bars onto the feet Edited January 25, 2011 by Milo
Pincher
You may be right - otherwise the bar can just move back and forth I suppose. The footpack screws directly into the roof for me. I shall re-investigate the spindles :D

DHA
Yeah the spindles tighten the feet (i.e. in the direction along the bars themselves) so that they line up with the feet on the roof.
Dingo
Pincher If you've still got the aero bar spindles I'd be interested in buying them. Let me know? Dingo
