Daddytron
My windshield washer pump is not working, although the headlight sprayer is. From what I can see there is only the one pump in the tank. I have checked all the fuses and they are all good. Any suggestions?
sloss
THere are 2 pumps - one for the Windscreen and one for the Headlamps. If the water level falls too far the Headlamp ones stop working so there is water left for the Screen. You need to take a front wheel and the inner cover off to get at the reservoir/pumps to see if it's getting electric or not. I assume you are not hearing it pump with no water coming out which would just be a blockage.....
s8mac
my washers ar doing the same i headlight washers work fine b*ut the windscreen ones dribble out eventually but the pump is making a whirting noise as if it is not in water. need to get it apart and have a look. perhaps there is a split pipe ? RRH685
I have a similar problem on my D3. Windscreen washers are working, but it takes a couple of seconds before any water comes through and then its really weak
sloss
That sounds like a simple blockage or at worst pump choked/on it's way out.
PsYcHe
I'd agree with sloss.. pretty sure there's 2 pumps in there. You need to go in from underneath to get to them if I remember rightly, but shouln't be too expensive to replace.
RRH685
I'll have a look, thank you.
Pentathlete
I had exactly the same problem. Just turned out to be a thick black oily residue in the tank(?) that was clogging it all up. Just removed the tanks and cleaned it out. Good as new!
RRH685
Have you seen this? Might be of help. Sadly it didn't work for me though
IceBlue8
Had a similar problem on mine - turned out to be a disconnected pipe at the back of the engine bay close to the wiper motor. Worth checking before you take out the wheel arch liner
greyish
My windshield washer pump is not working, although the headlight sprayer is. From what I can see there is only the one pump in the tank. I have checked all the fuses and they are all good. Any suggestions? there should be a series of small hoses from the tank to the sprayers on the windshield. in some cases, there are separate pumps, but most likely not. take sections off the hose path from the tank to the windshield until you find one that isn't putting out flow on demand - you have a blockage. If there ARE multiple pumps, then check the fuses and/or relays in the system. Fuses are easy to check with a multimeter, and relays can be swapped with similar ones to check and see if they are failed.
