Thinking of a Cooper Conv

Well, I've driven one and didn't like it. Our eldest daughter has a Cooper and we went to test drive an 09 cab not too long ago.

I didn't like it at all. They do look crap, absolutely crap, with the roof down but that wasn't my gripe. It just felt a lot less sold than her Cooper, something I was very puzzled by for the MINI brand. I expected better rigidity, especially in a small car. I didn't think the hood felt too well insulated when up, though this is admittedly a somewhat unfair comparison against my car. They're still a very well put together car though, but I just didn't get that special feeling I thought we might.

The Coopers are a fantastic car, but buy a Cooper S if you can. We couldn't get her insured on an S and the Cooper in standard format is a lot of fun - but a lot less fun than an S.

Thinking about this and seeing your other post about the car you're changing from, I would have severe doubts about the Cooper Cab from an A4 Cab.

It won't match that build quality, you can be sure of that. I was disappointed with the cab rigidity as I said above, and that was before I knew she had an A4 3.0 V6 Cab.

What about looking at 1 series Cab - they're a fantastic car.+++

The Cooper is fantastic, I agree. EldestMissMe's car still puts a smile on my face on the rare occasions I drive it. In fact if ever I do have to move the car I usually take 3 miles to do so.:roflmao:

Always down a country lane not too far from us. It's in its element there.:grin:

I couldn't live with one for motorway driving, but for anything up to decent motorway cruising speeds they're superb on A and B roads. It absorbs bumps as if they're not there and on windy B roads it would leave the 6 in a cloud of dust. The handling is spot on and I think BMW did an amazing job when they recreated the brand.
