ikklemonkey
Hopeing that someone maybe able to give me an idea of what the problem maybe with my 1998 tdi, i have covered 224,587 miles and was still going strong till ..... A flat spot on the turbo ? In any gear put your foot down and nothing for a split second then it kicks in with a cloud of diesel smoke out the back, someone i know said it could be the airflow meter ? It also seems to do it alot more as the engine gets hotter im not mechanicly minded so dont have a clue ! Many thanks
cruiser647
Welcome to TSN! Lots of black smoke 'usually' indicates poor combustion. In that you might have an air leak in the air pipes. Check them and see what happens. The MAF might need changing too. Make sure you get a Bosch one on exchange. About £55 I think. 5 minute job to change.
