beemerboy9
Hello folks, I blew an o/s dipped beam bulb driving home on Xmas day. Replaced it today by removing o/s air filter and then moving headlight forward a tad to be able to apply enough pressure to rotate the bulb holder. Bulb failure warning now gone but the bonnet open icon has replaced it. Applying downwards pressure to the far RHS of the bonnet extinguishes the warning icon, but I cannot get it to stay off. Is there a neat trick to fixing this problem? Thanks in advance, John
PsYcHe
Is the catch properly tightened to the cross member? Or maybe a spray with wd40 and a wiggle. Could be either loose, or some crud in the sensor.
beemerboy9
Psyche, thanks for the reply. Where is the sensor and could I have dislodged it when moving the headlight assembly forward? TIA, John
PsYcHe
It's part of the latch mechanism as far as I know.
beemerboy9
Panic over... A master tech, Matt, at my local Audi Centre (I'll give Whetstone Audi a plug here) pointed to a sticky O/S latch. A clean-up with WD40 and a toothbrush, a touch of Air Duster and a second spray with WD40 sorted it out. I was worried that the car would not shut down completely if the alarm was sensing an open bonnet and the battery might drain. I've done that before after leaving the bonnet open for a fortnight (no, I can't remember why I did that!). Thanks for your assistance, Psyche.
