IATM
Hi Guys, I recently purchased a 2006 Audi A8 in top condition, FASH etc however I think I might have the injector problem. I was cleaning the car one day and left the engine running and noticed white smoke. I have two videos, one of the engine running as soon as I started it on a cold morning and also a video of the smoke, can anyone tell me if its all normal or if I am just being paranoid, Also on a cold morning it takes a rather long time to crank (to start) almost 4-5 seconds but as soon as its been started once it will start on and off throughout the day within 1 second or so as I would expect. Please help http://s772.photobucket.com/albums/yy10/mirzadirect/?action=view¤t=IMG_0600.mp4 http://s772.photobucket.com/albums/yy10/mirzadirect/?action=view¤t=IMG_0607.mp4
PsYcHe
Which engine do you have? These cars do tend to emit steam for a bit and especially when you give it some gas when cold, you almost get a smokescreen of steam behind you Not sure on the 4-5 second crank, but a single injector down shouldn't cause that. sloss
There are 2 ways to start the diesel. 1 Immediately go to start - that takes a few seconds on a cold day 2 Let the heaters work for a few seconds then crank and it's much quicker. Hope that helps. Also like ^ said on smokescreen - yep, you can hide behind it sometimes!

PsYcHe
Then yes... you need to turn on the ignitio with a press of the button (no brake pedal), wait until the pre-heater light goes out (yellow spiral), and then start the car and it should start as quickly as normal. IATM
Thanks for the tips guys, this made a massive difference. I went out on a cold morning (6 days none start) pressed start button on first stage, left for 3-4 seconds, then cranked it and litterally started in less than half the time before and seemed perfectly "normal" to me. I still took it to a specialist who said that if the fuel filter hasnt been changed in 40k then that can be the culprit and a value that sits near the filter. these are meant to maintain the pressure in the fuel lines and keep the fuel were they are and if they dont it takes time for the fuel to get to the engine again and crank. this is my explaination of it, the way it was explained to me was much better hope it helps lol
