DjSwift
Greetings all, May I take the opportunity to say hello as this is my first post on here and I have done a bit of reading on the forums etc. Glad to be here:) I am a big Audi fan and I think my car has served me well over the years. Been all over Europe etc quite regularly etc. However my beloved car is now old and starting to feel its age. Never really had major issues and car has been neglected over the last few years as I average now maybe 2000 miles a year. However I have kept it for weekend use and driving in the snow. The batter had died and I constantly had to jump start it. And in the snow, the linkage on the wipers failed making me open the bonnet trying to sort a few things out whilst snowing. Not sure if that caused an issue somewhere. The wipers are now fine and I put a new battery in. The problem I have is that PRND432 are lit up. A small search indicates that the car is in "limp mode". Now the car drives fine. Although putting in reverse might jerk a little more than usual. But when driving, it shift 1-4 with no issues and is as smooth as always. However, it will not shift into 5 gear. I beleive that this limp mode is causing this. I took it down to my local mechanic the other day and he scanned with his VAG device and from what I can remember is that the error 00293 Multi function switch F125 appeared (although I am not sure at all) He told me I could be looking around £700 which definitely would not be worth the car value. I am wondering, maybe a reset to this fault could do? Car still drives ok, except cannot shift into 5th. And also the triptronic is disabled I noticed as well. Anyone come accross similar symptoms to my car? Here is a pic if anyone was interested. cruiser647
Busy? Here? hahahahah! (Joke!) Yes, this is a busy place normally. the best thing to do, would be take your car to an Audi indy and get the gearbox fluid changed and box filters cleaned. This means taking the bottom gearbox pan off, so whilst in there, they can change the F125. The fluid change will be about £150? But ring round your area to find a good price from a reputable place. You could also try changing the MAF (Mass Air Flow meter) to see if that helps, but only use Bosch ones. The signal from there can and does affect what the gearbox does. The MAF will be the cheaper thing to start with.
DjSwift
Thanks for the reply Much appreciated. Well I bought one of those scanner things. Read the code, and erased it. Read again and no errors at all Car is out of limp home mode. Triptronic is back and I can do into 5th gear. The only thing which I find strange, you cannot feel it hardly changing gear anymore. It has become smoother than before. Still a sign to sell and upgrade! Swifty Busy? Here?hahahahah! (Joke!) We have 2 A6's at the mo - V6 TDi q and the V6 2.7T Avant q (tip) - both have been very reliable (touch wood) since having them. The Avant is on 215K miles, and mine is on 176K miles.
