Joylove
Does anyone know about the V6 Tdi fitted to a 2003ish A6? It's lunched some bits on the rockers and cam. Serious wear is showing on a couple of the oily bits that look like fingers (technical term ladies ). Car is currently partially disassembled around the head. Question is: I need to know if the rockers can be replaced with the cams in-situ This thread suggests yes:The Audi TT Forum :: View topic - Valve spring compressor tool using this tool: eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace ...though Sealey don’t have a list of engines which it does/does not work on, they seem confident & at £25 its worth a go. This thread suggests it’s also possible to replace both the hydraulic lifters and the rocker arms whilst the cams are in place, but I can’t be sure. AKE engine problems - rocker arms keep falling off Do we know this problem and the answer gents please? Thanks.

cruiser647
The engine bay in these is quite big and I think it can be done. It's alot of stripping down though. Front of the car to come off etc etc. Probably best to replace the cams too, whilst in there. It is possible someone before you used the wrong oil, so it's knackered the top of the engine. This could also mean the bottom of the engine is on it's way too........... So, you'd need to be careful.
Joylove
Thanks for the reply. The engine sounded fine before dismantling and the issue found. It should have sounded terrible and been down on power. Musings where the wrong oil had been used in an attempt to mask a common issue before sale.
