msleet
I was driving my car the opther day when all the electrics went (radio, power steering, all lights on dash etc). The only thing I got was an ESP failure message. I managed to pull over and evcentually turn off the ESP and everything came back but I did have the ESP failure on the drivers info screen. I booked it into Audi for them to look at this and carry out a service and it was due to go in 3 days after the issue. The day before it went in the error message wnet away. While in the Audi dealership they called to ask what the issue was and if I had ever had a flat battery which I hadnt. They eventually told me that the alternator was faulty and thet they would replace it under warranty which was due to run out the day after. I got the car back and the day after the warranty ran out I had the follwoing warning lights come on; Brakes, Steering, ABS, Air Bags and the Glow light. I also had a message on the drivers info screen saying dEF. I took it back to Audi and they eventually replaced Glow PLug Number 2 as well as the Dash Pod and they also had to reproigram the keys. They told me that it wasnt covered by warranty as it had run out and that Audi UK would not cover it. The dealership very kindly did this free of charge as a gesture of goodwill. I drove out of the dealership and tried to turn the radio on to which I just got the error CODE. I looked in the manual and there isnt any code so went back to Audi. They still now have my car and are saying it may be an issue with the Radio or the ECU. My question is is all of this linked or just a coincidence? I think that the Audi dealer is now going to charge me but feel that this is all the result of the initial issue I had and should have been covered under the warranty. Coukld there have been one issue to cause all of this? Sorry this is a long post but any help would be much appreciated.
cruiser647
Hi! You should/the Audi garage should, just be able to type in the code for the radio. They can get the code very easily and also inform you of it for future reference. This should be free of charge. Hope that helps, and everything else is sorted now!? shark_90
The radio links to the instrument cluster which you've had replaced, they need to retrieve the radio code and relink the radio to the new cluster by entering the code. Simples.
