drumstick
Hi I'm toying with the idea of a re-map or an ecu chip or both. What's the difference? Also I was thinking of combining these with a K&N air filter. Is the filter a straight forward replacement. Does any one gave any idea what I would expect to pay for these tweaks and what sort of return I would get bhp and mpg thanks. mat.
Paul
Hi a re-map or an ecu chip are the same. In the early days a chip in the ecu was removed, reprogrammed often termed remapped and then replaced. Hence the term "chipped" Most remaps these days are uploaded through the vehicles diagnostic port. Same outcome, just the modern delivery. If you have an off the shelf remap an air filter won't make that much difference. Custom maps written specifically for your car on the dyno or road can be tweaked to make the most of it. Filters can be direct drop in replacements. Or replace the air box complete, with an external cold air feed. Depends on the engine/space/ what you want to spend. What you pay and get will vary dependant on car/engine. You get more gains from a turbo car than a N/A one. Welcome to TSN
Tipex
Talk to Shark performance, they'll look after you. Any decent tuner will supply you with a map that takes into account any other mods you may or may not have, so bear that in mind if you're planning further upgrades. PsYcHe
You'll get very little really out of that engine.. Maybe 10-15HP tops.. Though you may get more driveability.
