matt5791
I have an 06 D3 A8 with 19" 12 spoke alloys and a full size spare. Tyres are 255 40 19 - I'm thinking of changing them to 20" wheels with 275 35 20 tyres. Does anyone know if one of these will fit in the spare wheel space under the boot - with the current wheel in position it looks like the larger ones should as there is still plenty of height and some space around, but I'm not sure. Anyone know? Many thanks.
Tipex
If the 20 inch wheels have the same circumference (which they should do with the correct tyres), then they will be exactly the same size, being slightly wider means when laid in the boot it might be too high and lift the floor up. PsYcHe
That's a 'proper' A8 size, so should be fine.
Architex mA8tey
your new tyres / wheels will be just over 2% larger diameter - see attached comparison. if the new wheels had 255 35 20's on then they would be exactly the same diameter You also need to consider the tyre/wheel width as Tipex suggested, if the new combination is deeper then it may not sit below the cover/floor so just check and see how much spare depth you have first
PsYcHe
If you go with the 255/35/20 then you need to make sure it's the narrower rim, saw one car that had them on the wide rim (9J?) ad they just looked wrong.
