pat27
I have the mmi unit out of my A8 D3 to replace the cogs, but can not figure out how to remove the cog behind the main plastic 'arc' wheel- any ideas .
MichaelV8V
I don't think they are meant to be disassembled, the replacement part from Audi is a whole new lifting mechanism at around £200. There is someone selling new brass cogs on ebay, if you go that way maybe he will include instructions with the cogs?
pat27
I've done it now- I obtained the parts via eBay and enlisted the help of a Neighbour who has an engineering background. The parts cost £45, I used Autotechnica in Hull to remove and refit the unit from the car which cost £50 so it was a good saving on using a new one!
