pingpongpo
Hello chaps, I've just been out in the car park this afternoon to replace a headlamp on my Mk4 Golf 130Tdi and noticed that when I switched the engine on to double check which side needed replacing, both of the radiator fans were running. Now, I've been in my engine bay a few times before with it running and I've never seen/heard the fans running ever!! So, is this normal?
Cuprabob
It's perfectly normal for them to run on low speed if the A/C is switched on. If you switch off the A/C they should stop. MK4 Golfs have a common fault where the slow speed burns out and the fans pulse between off and high speed meaning either new fans or the common resistor mod. Sounds as if yours are working as they should

Cuprabob
You're welcome. After 10 years you must be the only owner not to have the fan controller fail.
