Risky
I was looking at an A6 and noticed the radio volume seemed hypersensitive. Zero to deafening a quarter turn. Is this the famous problem where if runs out of memory to remember the last volume setting or something else?
cruiser647
I think it's the actual volume switch itself. I just replaced the unit with an eBay one. Making sure it had the Bose speaker box connections. Sold the old one back on eBay with the fault known. They are very easy to replace.
Ian_C
Common problem, most common in the 8L A3 (1996 - 2003), as cruiser mentions its the volume control itself

cruiser647
So cost to fix? £0 You replace. Say about £65 when I last looked (a few years ago) on eBay.
