Exhaust a8 4.2 d2 flexi cat pipe torn

I need some help / advice on extracting the drivers sidecatalytic converter / pipe as my flexi joint has torn and needs to be replaced.

1. 
   
2. Can the flexi pipe be replaced without dropping the exhaust? Cut it out and use a clamp fit replacement.
   
3. How difficult is it to drop the exhaust from the manifold? Idiots guide please.
   
4. Where to get parts / replacement cat.
   

Sounded good for a couple of weeks now sounds like a Chieftaintank with a hangover !
