Samantha
Hi All, Im new to this one. Im considering either a TT or a Boxster, but with the TTs wilver seems to be a very common colour anf effects resale values. Does this apply to the Boxster, as its a toss up between a TT or a Boxter? Silver is nice for a Boxater, but seems to be alot about!
Bucking_Bronco
If you can afford it go for the Box S as its performance and prestige outdo the TT. However the TT is more practical, has 4wd and has a bigger boot and you get more value for money. Good luck
shao_khan
Hi - welcome to tyresmoke. I presume you mean a TT Roadster as the comparison. Boxster has a better storage by a long way, the standard 225 (unmodified) TT and 2.7 Boxster perform similarly, if you asked my G/f to chose (we have had a TT, Boxster 2.7 and S), she would have either boxster every time, better driving experience, still rarer on the road, better feel inside the cabin (may not be so nicely laid out, but feels better). What exactly are you looking for?
Adam
are you choosing a colour or a car? both good cars but the Boxster is superior in every respect but it bloody well should be as it is a lot more expensive come back and tell us what year/model Boxster v what year/model TT (and what has colour got to do with it?) Ian_C
[ QUOTE ] Im considering either a TT or a Boxster.... [/ QUOTE ] Boxster S or nicely specced 2.7! The TT was cool back in 1995 when the concept debuted, sorry. The Porsche is old but a timeless classic already, even more so with a few choice options. Personally, if it isn't the daily commute, would rather get a new Elise as a weekend toy. Sport 135 with lazer blue and matching alcantara would be my upgrades. Otherwise wait 12 months for the 997 and get a good early 996 Carrera from a dealer for base 2.7 Boxster money after prices slip. AliB
not really a 'versus' as TT is completely different animal to boxster i would suggest. Nice car and all that, but completely different. I looked at what Clarkson was banding around as competion for the boxster ie S2000 and Z4... competition? my left foot! NOT!~ Looking around, i dont think there is truely any competion that gives the overall package and charisma as the boxster. Afraid the only choice to be made is/was a 2.7 or an S..but now u also have the
Crusoe
LOL, sorry just coldn't resist mentioning that i had a good race with a boxster S last night and outpaced him slightly in a straight line and could keep up without too much trouble through the twisties even though it was running on 911 esk 18" wheels. Boxster isn't as raw as a S2K though so not really al alternative if someone is looking at a TT. Personally think the honda looks better than both even though it doesn't have the badge value
CARACTERE 007
the s2000 is pure hornyness!
Adam
the S2000 is another excellent alternative - they have a reputation for spinning in the wet don't they? nice car, good value and Honda reliability is a great package - I love the grey/red combo of the one down my road but I hate Jap interiors and those VTEC engines get tiresome - rag its nuts off to get any decent power but I agree nice cars - I would test drive all to see for yourself has a TTR really got better storage than a Boxster's 2 boots (I'm sure it has in the cabin)
Crusoe
Cheers Caracter 007 Yes they can be tricky in the wet, no traction or stability control so it's all down to your right foot, the custom tyres they come on are fantastic in the dry but need care when they are cold too. Interesting vid here (quite large though) boxster left for dead and 350z was slowing people up, TT would have been lapped probably. M3v350ZvBoxstervS2000vR34 Would love a BoxsterS but they are out of my price range and would cost me a lot more than the S2K to run. Just booked mine in for a brake strip and deglaze, dealer only charges £45 an hour and says it should only take 30min.

Adam
thought so Chris Crusoe - didn't Top gear have an S2000 v Boxster 2.7 v Z4 test - round the (damp) track the Boxster won - and it was a 2.7! so I guess it depends on conditions - Boxster better balanced and gets power down better with engine weight over rear wheels reckon if I had less budget I would be driving an S2000 now

Langy
Hi there, I'm new and i'm female so thought you might appreciate the perspective of someone who's driven both. I tried the TT and whilst it really is very nice I find that the shape has dated dramatically and now looks old. It's also not the most exciting car in the world to drive but 20k will buy you a decent (if a little leggy) example. For me, it would be the boxster every time. I've got a 2.7 at the moment and it's the nuts. Great instant power, a look about it that simply doesn't date and as a package it can't be beaten. You also have to remember that the residuals of the boxster are about as close to rock solid as you'll get when buying a car. I think it's three years now that the Boxster has 'won' the award for the least depreciating car in the country. I appreciate that the initial investment cost is a little higher but imho you're getting a very much better vehicle which you'll never stop enjoying. I borrowed a 3.2 the other day and am currently considering whether to 'upgrade' but the 'S' (so I understand) does depreciate slightly more than the 2.7 and looking at Autotrader at the moment, this would seem to be true. Finally (yes I do shut up), i'd just say that with regard to colour, it's boring but silver or black are probably your best bets. The 'flat' colours are not holding their money anywhere near as well as the metallics - i'd absolutely adore a red one all the same though. Bored yet? Crusoe
Always a welcome combination (lady in a porsche ) Welcome Never seen a lady driving one in a spirited fashion though, would you use the extra power of the 3.2 or is your car more for show than go? [/ QUOTE ] Hopefully not a dangerous driver but i've been known to hit the wrong side of a ton when the roads are clear. Husband was a kart driver - got me into karting and really enjoyed it. I don't do it any more but my car is now my baby and I really enjoy just opening her up and seeing how far I can push her on the country roads. I'm still here so i've obviously not pushed it too hard yet! Looking to do a trackday in the next couple of months and finish off the back boots. Anyhow my other half would divorce me if I bought a car for 'show'. The 2.7 is great and really eats up the road but i'm finding the allure of the 3.2 really appealing - let's face it, most numpty's in this world wouldn't know the difference between the Boxster and the S anyway!! (that's not meant to sound demeaning but you should hear the stupid questions i've been asked by both men and women). I've just put my boxster up for sale in the classifieds if you fancy dipping an oar into the world of the sacred Porsche. Cheers for the welcome. Lupobabe will be happy anyway, bit offtopic, but there are fearless women drivers aswell mate, even in Porsches, got a woman in a Porsche Boxster following me on one of my more spirited drives last time. shao_khan
We've had two Boxsters now, the g/f loves them and i imagine we will have another as soon as finance permits. There is a girl considering a Boxster on the TT forum, you might want to advertise yours there just in case.
AliB
Nice vid. GT34 sounds really great and the S2000 wound right up sounds awesome. Closer look at the car stats on start up indicate that it is a 2.7boxster and not the 3.2! so some obvious difference to be had there. Curious why they chose an (old) 2.7 boxter and not the current 3.2 or maybe the answer to that is as obvious as i am cynical ..
