hey - I actually seen one Polo with 18's don't think he moved much after puttin em on but his plate was ON18S! You can get 17's seen a few now but arches mega cut or Rolled, when doin full turn it can be felt - I got some deep dish 15's but still can feel the arches touchin on full lock! The 16's seem a good idea BUT will i still need to roll arches for 16's?? would spacers help? Can cost a bit for the lowering kit and arch roll any one had this done?? how much you pay and where? UV in leicester do it but a bit pricey!!

ROlling the arches is basically turning the lip up and inwards flush with the inside of the wing and sealin to prevent any debris building up and causing premature corrosion.

As for cost that depends on where you go, some body shops seem quite cheap, others not so. Do you have any companies local that prep cars for evens like the VWcup or Fiesta challenge or anything liek that? They will most likely all have had the arches rolled so they will know somewhere local if they do not do it themselves.

HMMM - soz m8 but lookin at that 16's look "PANTS" unless DEEP DISH - and then rubbing occurs! GO for the 17's at least m8 - will cost but well worth it as you can see from that pic>>> No many nice 16's unless imported from Germany -The GTi's with Standard BBS rims look OK but wuld not go out and buy them.

I'm sure you could buy red callipers, but they aren't cheap at the best of times so I'd stick to painting them, either yourself or pay for them to be done rather than buying new, unless they are needed of course

With rusty brakes you just use em till they need replacing, most cars rust just depends on how obvious they are through wheels, I'm sure mine look pretty bad but hey that's life, someone may be able to recommened something to clean them up though but I haven't a clue as to what to use!
