waveydavey
Hi all, This is my first post to the forum as a new member. I have a question........ How the heck do you change the sidelight bulbs on a Polo GTI???? i'm assuming you have to dismantle the whole headlight unit to even get at the sidelight / mainbeam bulbs. I only ask cos i have just purchased some LED sidelight bulbs for fitting to my GTi and also my other half's IS200. Piece of cake fitting them to the Lex but i think it may be a no go fitting them to the Polo. Cheers Dave.
N3WOB
Welcome to TSN WD Even though I used to have a GTI P, Im afraid Im not going to be able to help. If the others one here can't either, I'm sure a quick call to a dealer might R
Ritey
Hello and welcome to tsn Sorry for the late reply to your problem, having not replaced the front bulbs myself I've not actually done this operation on the car, however its not too say it can't be done, and there are many methods of doing it. The most common and apparently the easiest way to change 6N2 bulbs on the front clusters is to actually remove the front bumper and drop them out to get to the back, however be warned, all manuals with xenon lights have a disclaimer saying that the gas discharge can be fatal and all changing of bulbs should be done at the stealers !!!! I have been informed that you can change the lights without dropping of the front bumper, although you do have to move other items in the engine bay around, namely the battery and its casing. Looking for more info to give better reply, although no doubt it will probably be most likely that I'll actually give it a go myself and take lots of pic's like I usually do to help myself and others in the future ! yerodretep
I have a Polo 1.0 L and the pilot lamp has blown & it's MoT tomorrow. Cost only 49p per lamp, but can't I get to the old one! No. Thinks it must be battery out first! How do they design cars like that, it's no wonder you see many more cars driving these days with defective lamps! m4ttm4son
I noticed that last year when I tried changing it. Ended up giving the bulb to the garage to fit it for me. Just couldn't be arsed in the end!
yerodretep
Yep, did the same today just couldn't get my fingers in to change it. Dave of BND garages did it when my polo was in for the MoT test.
